[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text single_style=””]If you’ve ever been to university, you’d know just how beloved the microwave is to the student population. How else is Maggi meant to make her daily appearance accompanied by her cheese flavoured noodles that really don’t taste like cheese? How were you to go to bed without the hot dog you’d been thinking about all day with that old bread roll lying around? Your vienna wasn’t going to warm itself.
Honestly, forget water, the microwave has been the thing that has kept students alive for all these years. But when it hasn’t been moonlighting as a literal lifesaver, it has been a staple appliance in so many homes across the world.
Gone are the days when microwaves were only reheating agents. They’re now so multidimensional that they can go a long way in cooking up a fantastic meal for not just one person, but even an entire family.
And what makes them so exciting is that they continually evolve to become even more convenient and versatile, whilst upping their aesthetic game with smooth sleek finishes.
Russell Hobbs brings us the latest quality addition to the microwave family with their 20L Microwave that looks so sleek it will complement any kitchen design.
This microwave comes with 8 auto cook options which include cook, defrost, popcorn, potato, frozen vegetable, beverage, dinner plate, and pizza. An additional 11 Power options give you the flexibility of cooking or heating a variety of foods from pastas to curries.
Design:
This unit comes with a mirror finish that makes it both a stand-out and easy addition to your kitchen. However, as beautiful and aesthetically pleasing as this may be, it does mean that it makes it susceptible to fingerprints and you’ll probably need to wipe it down after every use.
The 20L capacity gives you enough space to place a plate with 23cm diameter which isn’t quite big enough to fit a dinner plate but gives you the ability to place an ice cream size container in the microwave.
Its user-friendly design makes it easy to use, open and operate. And for those that have children who also double as ninjas, it additionally has a child lock function that keeps access denied from prying fingers. For those whose children haven’t yet learnt the art of climbing the kitchen jungle gym, you shouldn’t have to worry. And also, well done.
Lastly, this sleek beauty comes with an A+ energy rating due to its power rating being 700 watts which makes it quite energy efficient but might impact its performance as this is on the smaller side of most microwaves energy usage.
Additional Information:
The Russell Hobbs 20L Microwave comes with a standard one year warranty but never fear, an extra year can be gained by registering your purchase on their website here. We wouldn’t argue if two-year warranties became more standard within this category and the fact that Russell Hobbs now offers them certainly gives other brands an opportunity to compete with this unit.
Even though this unit comes without a reheat option, which we see on a number of the Defy units, the Russell Hobbs 20L microwave is still a great value for money purchase that will go a long way in reducing your cooking headaches.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text single_style=””]
Online Product Reviews:
The Russell Hobbs 20L Microwave earns its spot as a Buy the Best Product due to its phenomenal rating of 4.5 thanks to the 1406 reviews it currently has on Takealot. It offers a hoard of incredible functions and features whilst still being affordable and it’s small enough that it doesn’t take up too much space in your kitchen.
The main positive reviews are around the look and ease of use of the microwave. Most reviewers are happy with the unit’s size to fit within an apartment and ideal for a smaller kitchen or household with one or two people. The 30-second automatic timer on the start button was a great addition to the unit. Below we found the most helpful reviews:

I have only had this microwave a few days now so haven’t tried all the functions, however so far so good. It’s a good looking appliance, and perfectly sized for my use. Probably too small for a family but ideal for one. The display panel is really sleek and I like the touchscreen buttons. The mirror glass definitely looks great, although the downside is that you cannot see inside the microwave if you are checking on your cooking. I registered the microwave on the Russell Hobbs site and it was a pretty easy process.
The main criticism of the product seems to be technical issues with the product where it has stopped working or not working as expected. Unfortunately, we would have loved to test the ease of getting this sorted but when purchasing through Takealot it is very easy to return an item so we don’t see this as being a problem. Secondly, this unit has been sold on Takealot since at least October 2016 so any issues would have hopefully been resolved with the technical issues but a certain amount of issues would be expected.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
